Thank you for taking such good care of me over the past couple months. I feel so much better and my Mommy and Daddy tell me that I am such a joy to be around! Keep up the good work.
As a young, first time mother, I was so excited to bring my new baby home. I had read all the pediatric info I could get my hands on and felt prepared for my new bundle of joy. I had a hard but "normal" birth. Once home, my son was pretty content during the day being held or for naps but at night he cried for long periods. I had to stand or sit straight up with him. I was exhausted and cried myself at times! I wondered if this was normal and felt at a loss of what to do.
I started chiropractic school about 10 months after the birth of my first child and the more I learned, the more I realized that so many symptoms that babies experience after birth are impacted by their position in the womb or from what are considered “normal births” that have indeed created trauma. Nursing difficulties, reflux, decreased bowel movements, ear infections, torticollis, misshapen heads and colic/excessive crying, to name a few, are not actually the problem but can be signs of underlying issues. These issues are often not addressed and parents unnecessarily feel exhausted and at a loss of what to do, other than give the medications doctors recommend or hope their babies “outgrow it”.
I understand the struggles and disconnect that a parent may feel when their child is crying or struggling in any way and I love seeing that parent/child bond restored and strengthened.
So if you have a newborn that is experiencing any of the above difficulties, chances are there may be underlying issues. Once they are addressed, your baby will be much happier and healthier! Every child deserves a healthy start in life.
